Abstract/Summary

OASIS: Drawn plans and elevations of building after internal subdivisions and wall coverings removed, accompanied by photographic record and written notes. Project Results: Three storey house with rendered rubble walls, currently divided into two dwellings. It may have started life as a two storey 16th/early 17th century cross passage house but was refronted to form a three storey Georgian-style house in the early 19th century. It became the King’s Arms Inn probably in the early 19th century and was divided into two separate properties with the north part becoming the Duke of Monmouth Refreshment Rooms in the 1880s. The King’s Arms ceased trading in c.1903 and the building converted into two dwellings. There have been numerous alterations and additions in the 20th century.
