Abstract/Summary

Terrain Archaeology carried out an evaluation on the site of Dorford Baptist Church during November 2003. Three trenches were excavated. Part of a large ditch oriented roughly N-S was found to the south of the church, probably part of the ditched defences of the Roman town. In the other two trenches, to the north and west of the church, the remains of a substantial clay and chalk bank, probably part of the defensive counterscarp bank, was exposed.
