Abstract/Summary
'Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Mr R Lasseter to undertake an archaeological evaluation on land proposed for the construction of a tennis court at Corton Farm, Portesham, Dorset centred on SY 636 854. The proposed development area is currently occupied by rough ground. The remains of a limestone wall, part of a 19th century farm building, lie just outside the eastern edge of the proposed development.
Two trenches were machine excavated and hand cleaned. They showed that the development site had been partly terraced in the recent past. Three features associated with a former farm building, erected in the 1970s and demolished in 1997, were recorded.'
