Abstract/Summary
‘In May 1996, archaeological observations were made during the construction of a drillsite access track at Cold Harbour, Wareham. Prior assessment of the site had suggested that the route of the access track was immediately adjacent to a presumed Roman road. The methods of construction employed were minimally intrusive, the only ground disturbing operation consisting of a limited and shallow topsoil strip. As a consequence of this, no evidence was found of any Roman deposits, or indeed of any other features of archaeological interest. It is possible that archaeological levels may exist at greater depths than those excavated to, but there was no way of proving this within the scope of the works.‘
