Description

SY 8084, SY 8184, SY 8185, SY 8085 18/363 WINFRITH NEWBURGH HIGH STREET 20.11.59 (North-West Side) Nos 20, 21 and 22 II Cottages. C17 origin, probably originally one house. No. 20, Cobbler's Cottage, has walls partly of stone, part plastered cob. Thatched roof, brick stack. One storey and attics. Modern ledged door with glass panel. Ground floor has two horizontally sliding sash windows - one with glazing bars. Attic has one half-dormer with horizontally sliding sashes with glazing bars. Weatherboarded lean-to at north end under catslide roof. Rear lean-to of flint and brick with asbestos roof. Interior modernised. No. 21 has walls of brick and stone, raised in plastered cob. Thatched roof, brick stack. One storey and attics. Ledged door. Ground floor has one casement window and one horizontally sliding sash, both with glazing bars. Attic has two half-dormers with casements with glazing bars. Roof retains a jointed cruck truss. No. 22 Tranquility Cottage, has flint and brick walls, colourwashed, and raised in plastered cob. Thatched roof, brick stack. One storey and attics. Part-glazed ledged door. Ground floor has one horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars and one fixed window. Attic has two half-dormers with horizontally sliding sashes with glazing bars. RCHM Monument 11. Listing NGR: SY8059484493
