Listed Building record MDO17360 - Cobblers Cottage, 20 High Street, Winfrith Newburgh

One of three cottages thought to have been formed from what was originally one house, built in the seventeenth century. This cottage has walls partly of stone and partly of cob, and a thatched roof with brick chimney stack. Lean-to extensions are of weatherboard and flint with brick.

‘The following monuments unless otherwise described are of one storey and attics with cob walls and thatched roofs. … (11) COTTAGES, four, have walls of rubble, cob and brick; one, of 17th-century date with rubble and some brick refronting to the ground floor and cob beneath the eaves, has a stone chimney-stack at the N. end; the other cottages were built in the 18th or 19th century.’
