Description
Archaeological assessment by AC archaeology of two areas adjacent to the A37, in advance of widening and other road improvements. Area 2 comprises of an area of 625m² Immediately adjacent to the site of a former C17th cottage, (RCHM Stockwood 5). In area 2, a single trench was excavated, with a shallow topsoil of 250mm average depth. No archaeological finds or features were identified from this trench.
The total area observed in Areas 1 and 2 were approximately 4% and 18% of the development area respectively.
