Full Description

Bronze Age disc barrow to the west of Black Down. The site is visible as cropmarks and earthworks on aerial photographs. {1-2}

The northernmost of a group of barrows between the 500 and600 feet contours on or near the top of a ridge west of Black Down. In 1952 this barrow was reported as being around 73 feet in diameter overall, with a central mound about 1 foot high and 13 feet in diameter, and the bank and ditch much worn down.

‘(6) GROUP OF BARROWS between the 500 and 600 ft. contours on or near the top of a ridge to the W. of Black Down and ¾ m. N.E. of Kingston Russell House. The northernmost (a), a disc barrow, is 400 yards S. of the eighth milestone from Bridport on the main road. It is 73 ft. in diam. over all (for plan, see preface, p. xxxii); the bank and ditch are much worn down; the central mound is 13 ft. in diam. and 1 ft. high; . . . ‘
