‘Immediately to the north of the north-east corner of Weatherby Castle is a sub-rectangular enclosure of c. 0.25ha, with a further arc of ditch curving to the west from the north-east corner (Fig. 2, E2). Pits are visible within the ditch circuit. East of the enclosure a regular pattern of ditches, pits and “splodges” suggests an extension of settlement activity.’
