Monument record MDO40034 - Bronze Age round barrow, Knowlton, Woodlands

A Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a cropmark on 1990s aerial photographs. The barrow is located to the north of Knowlton North and Old Churchyard henges and is part of the extensive barrow cemetery known as the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group. The feature was mapped by English Heritage’s Knowlton Circles Project and was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

SU 0217 1050. A Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs and has been mapped by EH's Knowlton Circles Project. The barrow appears as a plough levelled sub-circular mound 16.3m in diameter. It is located about 100m to the north of Knowlton North and Old Churchyard henges. It is part of the extensive barrow cemetery known as the Knowlton Circles Barrow Group. <3>

A probable Bronze Age barrow is visible as a cropmark on 1990s aerial photographs <1-2>. It is also visible on a 2014 aerial photograph <4>.

The cropmark is sub-circular in form and measures around 16m in diameter. It is located on the northwest edge of the Knowlton Henge and Barrow group and is likely to represent a Bronze Age barrow.

The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP.
