Full Description
A series of parallel lynchets to the south of Barnes Lane, Alton Pancras, are visible as earthworks on Environment Agency lidar imagery [1]. The features are considered likely to be strip lynchets of medieval date, although they do meet and intermix with a wider field system of probable Iron Age to Roman date, recorded under MDO48364 (also parent of MDO086 and MDO44824) and so might include older lynchets and field boundaries. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.
