Full Description
Areas of later prehistoric fields to the south of Barnes Lane, Alton Pancras, are visible as earthworks on Environment Agency lidar imagery [1]. The features extend predominantly across the winding higher ground and are considered likely to be part of a wider field system of probable Iron Age to Roman date, probably incorporating some areas of probable medieval strip lynchets, recorded under MDO48363. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.
