Abstract/Summary
Report on observations and recording by Terrain Archaeology in August 2011 during the machine excavation of seven geotechnical test pits to determine the presence and depth of limestone deposits suitable for quarrying, in advance of the submission of a planning application to open a new quarry. No finds, deposits or features of archaeological significance were identified in the test pits. Two hollows may be evidence of small-scale quarrying.
